Boko Haram lnsurgency Will Soon End

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday assured Nigerians that Book Haram insurgency in the country will soon end.

The president made this known in Lagos when he hosted some Igbo market and town union leaders under the auspices of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria led by billionaire businessmen Arthur Eze and Ifeanyi Ubah.

“I just want to tell Nigerians that this phase will surely pass,” said Jonathan, who lamented the Kano bomb attack where about 200 people were killed on Friday.

“This intimidation will not last. We will continue to improve on the technology needed to combat terrorism,” he added.

The president said further that other countries have faced terrorism and have overcome. This he said shows that Nigeria will also overcome its challenges.

He thanked the Igbo leaders who represented the 158 recognized markets in the state, as well as the town unions in Lagos, for vowing to deliver all Igbo votes in the state to the PDP in the 2015 presidential election.

Speaking earlier, Prince Arthur Eze urged Igbos to continue mobilizing votes for Jonathan because he has the fear of God and sincerity to work for the nation.

Emir of Kano, Sanusi visits scene of Central Mosque bomb blast

The Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II who was out of Nigeria when the bomb blast at the Central Mosque in Kano occurred, arrived Nigeria today and went straight to the scene of the the attack to assess the situation.


During his 20 minutes visit to the blast scene, the Emir said with the way the attacks were carried out, it showed it was well planned and had taken the perpetrators close to two months to plan it.

"From all indications, they (attackers) have been planning this for at least two months. I have directed that the mosque be washed and cleaned and prayers should continue here. We will never be intimidated into abandoning our religion, which is the intention of the attackers" he said 

DNA result reveals two of Femi Kuti's five children are not his

Afrobeat king, Femi Kuti says he recently found out that two out of the 5 children he always thought were his, weren't. In an interview with Encomium mag, Femi said a DNA test conducted on a boy and a girl named Tosin and Dupe who were born after his first son, Made, showed he's not their biological father.

"I did a DNA test and was told two of the children are not mine. The first two (after Made), a boy and a girl. It is very serious. I never knew somebody could give you what is not yours. I’ve three boys now. I can’t father children I was tricked to believe I am their father,” he said

Femi says he has since returned the children to their mothers.

Footballer legend Pele recovering in hospital after kidney treatment

The doctors at the Brazilian hospital where Brazilian football legend Pele is being treated for kidney disease say his condition is improving.


According to local media reports, the 74 year old has been in intensive care unit since Monday Nov. 24th because of a urinary infection he got after having surgery to remove kidney stones on November 13th. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery as he's currently breathing normally without any support.

“We have lost so much. What has become of the Nigeria Airways, our shipping lines, railways among others.

Infrastructure is going down and also the rising level of insecurity.

The Peoples Democratic Party has failed badly in their 15 years of rule so far. Everything is going down inpsite of all the money.

What are they doing with the money.

We must stop PDP from destroying this country. If we don’t get rid of the PDP, PDP will get rid of Nigerians.

We are fed up. Whatever your sentiments, let us work together and rebuild this country,” he said.

Senate responds to corruption allegations by Fmr Pres. Obasanjo

The senate has reacted to the corruption allegations leveled against it by the former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo while at a book launch yesterday in Abuja. In a statement released and signed by its spokesman.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe today, the senate frowned at the allegations that they used their oversight function to extort money, stating that the oversight functions of the senate was the initiative of the former president. The statement reads in part;

"Ex- President Obasanjo for the avoidance of doubt, was the initiator of the constituency project in the year 2000 as a means of ensuring that projects were fairly spread across the country using the Senatorial zones as the spring board.

To ensure execution of the projects, Obasanjo again factored the constituency projects into the annual budgets to be implemented by the executive depending on availability of funds. That is to say that no lawmaker ever comes close to the funds or even determine the contractor for the said projects or when the said contract would be awarded. So, it looks curious and surprising that former President Obasanjo would turn around after over 10 years of initiating such a project to allege that the National Assembly is performing the function of both the executive and the parliament. Is it not preposterous for anybody to believe that members of the National Assembly would against the provisions of the Constitution with regards to application of separation of powers, award contracts ‘to their agents to execute’ and expect the Presidency under a President Obasanjo or any other President for that matter to pay for what they are not part of? Such allegation stands logic on its head, as it amounts to an indictment of the Presidency for wilfully contravening the budget laws by ceding its power to execute to the National Assembly, if it was the case.”

FG approves the purchase of N9.2bn cooking stoves for rural women

The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved the purchase of N9.2bn worth of cooking stoves and ‘wonder bags’ for rural women under the National Clean Cooking Scheme.


Speaking with state house correspondence after the FEC meeting, the Supervising Minister of Information, Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed said the scheme which is a federal government initiative, is geared towards reducing the use of firewood among rural women in Nigeria. 

"The National Clean Cooking Scheme is an aggressive drive to engender clean cooking culture amongst the poor rural women, to reduce and possibly eliminate cooking with solid fossil which is detrimental to health. The scheme is expected to provide 20 million clean stoves over a five-year period at the rate of four million stoves per annum, which will be distributed free of charge. It will also reduce incessant felling of trees, which exposes the country to ecological problems” he said.

The Minister said N9.2bn, inclusive of Value Added Tax, was approved for the procurement of 750,000 units of clean cooking stoves and 18,000 wonder bags, a non-electric slow cooker invented by Sarah Collins, a South African eco-entrepreneur, who came up with the idea of surrounding the pan with cushions six years ago during a power cut in her country.

He said the stoves were expected to be delivered by Messrs Integra Renewable Energy Services Limited within a period of 12 weeks.

Minister of Environment Mrs. Lawrecia Mallam who also spoke on the initiative, said the government decided to purchase the cooking stoves for the rural women because it considers cooking with firewood a silent killer.

Police parade 25 year old Nigerian musician turned armed-robber

Lagos state Police command yesterday paraded a 25 year old musician named John Sunday pictured left, who says he took to armed robbery in order to gather N100,000 to promote his reggae album.

“I am a musician from Ikofepepe in Akwa Ibom State. We were three in the gang, but one is on the run. I needed money to launch my album, Tureke Reggae; that is why I went into robbery. I was targeting N100,000" John said when he was interrogated.

John  Onyekachi Oshomi (pictured right) who claimed to be a bus conductor said he joined the gang because he needed to take care of his family. The two werewas arrested on November 21st.

"I was a commercial bus conductor. We were operating on the Agege Total-Oshodi route. I just got married, but my wife is still in the village. I was looking for money to feed her whenever she comes to Lagos; that was why I went into armed robbery. ” Sunday confessed.

According to The Nation, the Lagos state police commissioner said he got a tip off on November 21 at 10pm that some armed robbers were planning to rob in Lagos. He said he immediately directed the Officer-in-Charge, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police (SP), to go after them.

“With two decoy teams, they stormed their hideout and arrested Onyekachi Oshomi and John Sunday with a revolver pistol. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime including snatching of several cars within the metropolis. Efforts have been stepped up to arrest those that are still at large,” Aderanti said.

Both men will soon be charged to court.

Beauty Queen Rescued From Kidnappers Who Posed As Aliko Dangote On Facebook [See Photo]

The Lagos state Police command has rescued the current Miss Nigeria International 2014 & daughter of an aide to Kwara state Governor, Miss Sa’adat Bibire, who was abducted two weeks ago by a gang of kidnappers who deceived her to come to Warri, Delta state from Lagos after they promised to make her the ambassador of the Aliko Dangote brand.

The gang, made up of students of the Delta state Polytechnic Ozoro, had opened a Facebook account disguising as Aliko Dangote and contacted Sa’adat.

They invited her to Warri with the promise to make her Dangote brand ambassador.

On getting to Warri, Sa’adat was kidnapped and taken to a place on the outskirts of Ozoro town in Isoko Local Government Area in Delta state.

The kidnappers then contacted her family and asked for N20m ransom, which was supposed to be paid into a Malaysian account.

Parading one of the suspects before newsmen, the Lagos state Police commissioner said a manhunt for the kidnappers was immediately launched after they contacted the girls family but only one of them was arrested while the others are currently on the run.

When interrogated, one of her abductors, 23 year old Patrick Ifada (pictured above), said he was lured into the kidnap gang because of the money offered

“I accepted to join the gang because of the money involved.

We opened a fake Facebook account pretending to be Alhaji Aliko Dangote and we convinced her to come over to Delta State to meet the businessman.

At first, our ransom was N20 million.

When they were not forthcoming with the money, we brought it down to N15 million and then N10 million.

I was the one staying with the victim in our hideout.

We were using the quarters of one of our members, Destiny. We are five in number and I was promised a huge sum.

Other gang members are Destiny, Marcus Omajuwa, Ugada and Chuka. We are all students of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, ND 1.

I was studying Computer Science. She was in our hideout for about two weeks.

We asked the Special Adviser to pay the ransom into a Malaysian account that one Fred helped us to set up. None of us raped her.

Destiny told us we were only going to make money from her family, and not to assault her” he told Vanguard

The wife of one of the kidnappers was arrested alongside Patrick.

Aftermath Of Samklef Claims, Another Producer “Sarz” Fires Wizkid

It is obvious that popstar and music sensation, Wizkid is not in good books of many people in the industry.

The Musician has been faced with lots of allegations ranging from bad attitude to being proud. It would be recalled that the pop star has had strings of beefs with other artistes which include Davido, female singer Saeon, and his ex-producer Samklef.

However, this a new one. Another famed producer who they have worked together has voiced his annoyance and displeasure with the pop star saying ‘I don’t have his time anymore’. This was said by popular music Producer Sarz. Osabuohien Osaretin known as Sarz is the popular music producer who is responsible for the production of countless hit singles by Wizkid.

The Edo state born music producer is responsible for songs like ‘samba’, ‘Jaiye Jaiye’, and several others. It was made known according to Netng that there has been a cold war between Sarz and Wizkid especially when Wizkid began to work more with other producers like Legendury Beatz and MaleekBerry.

It however got worse when Saeon’s ex-manager Alex Adegbenro while narrating his version of the Saeon and Wizkid saga said:

‘And I remember he gave us a list of producers he could work with, he said it was either, Samklef, Sarz or Maleek Berry and we picked Sarz and then when he heard the beat Sarz made, he didn’t like it, so he called Sarz and was like ‘dude, you know my new sound, why do you keep making beats like this. So we went back the second time and Maleek Berry just laced a beat and the song happened like a freestyle’.

This revelation did not obviously go down well with Sarz. So,earlier this week, during a twitter interview with Sarz,he was asked if he still produces beats for Wizkid’, and his reply was:-

No Lol, I don’t have his time anymore’. Probing further, someone else asked, ‘but you produced his hennesy artistry song?’ and Sarz replied saying, ‘Because 2baba begged me’. When asked what Wizkid really did to him, Sarz said, ‘Hmmnn so much I can’t say it all’.

Well, when a fan hinted that both stars might probably still work together in future, Sarz said, ‘he will have to beg me because it was painful’.

Meanwhile, Wizkid’s 5-year contract with his current record label E.M.E would expire on December 1, 2014, and fans expect a great transition.

It would be recalled that just few days ago, the music star made it known that he has had a crush on female singer, Chidinma for a long time.

Governor Aregbesola Sworn In For The Second Term [See Photos]

A presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and wife of former Vice President, Titi Abubakar, are among the dignitaries attending the second term inauguration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

Aregbesola took oath of office for a second term at Osogbo Township Stadium.

From the early morning people had started trooping to the venue of the inauguration ceremony and by 10am, the about 30,000 capacity stadium had been full with people taking over the pitch.

A work-free day to commemorate the in­auguration contributed to the huge crowd.

Noticeable members of the APC came in with the Governor around 12 noon.

Among them were: National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; presidential aspirant, General Buhari; Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; his Kwara counterpart, Abdul Fattah Ahmed; Governor of Ogun, Senator Ibikunle Amosu; former Governors of Osun State: Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Bisi Akande and Senator Isiaka Adeleke; former Governors of Ekiti State: Dr Kayode Fayemi, Engineer Segun Oni and Otunba Niyi Adebayo; National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Muhammad; First Ladies of Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States among others.
