President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday said those accusing him of backing Boko Haram are insane.

The President said this during his campaign rally in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Jonathan said that he had no reason to sponsor the killing of children, women and the aged as he had nothing to benefit from such deleterious actions.
In 2011, I had two times the number of votes I had in Bayelsa State.
Why should I want to reduce that number of votes?” Jonathan quipped.
“Only a mad person can insinuate that the president is supporting Boko Haram.”
Condoling the people following over the persistent Boko Haram attacks, Jonathan promised that Adamawa would be the first among the three states that would be completely liberated from the insurgents.
Jonathan informed the gathering that Michika, one of the remaining two local governments in the hands of the insurgents, has been liberated.
“We are totally committed to the liberation of Adamawa state,” he said. “Adamawa will be the first state that will be freed.
As we are talking to you Michika Local Government area has been recaptured by our gallant soldiers.
The remaining local government, Madagali will, insha Allah, be recaptured very soon.
We are totally committed to Adamawa and it will be the first state that will be liberated.
I feel so burdened about the excesses of Boko Haram.”
Jonathan, who promised to make massive investment in Agriculture and other key sectors for the rapid development of the state, urged the people to massively vote their gubernatorial candidate, Nuhu Ribadu, for development to be solidly rooted in the state.
“I knew him when I was a deputy governor and as a governor I monitored him till today. He has unique attributes. I believe he will join us to fight insecurity in Adamawa state,” Jonathan said.
The president added that Ribadu has the energy, intellectual capacity and wide range of network across the globe to rout Boko Haram insurgency

Don’t Commit Suicide Over Boko Haram – Sambo Mocks Buhari

Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Thursday advised the APC presidential candidate, retired Maj.-Gen.Muhammadu Buhari, against committing suicide by planning to personally lead the war against Boko Haram terrorists, if elected president.
Sambo gave the advice at the PDP Presidential Rally in Yola, Adamawa.
The vide president said his advice was against the backdrop of the advice given to Buhari by his presidential running mate to personally lead the war against Boko Haram if elected President in next month’s presidential election.
Sambo urged Buhari to ignore the advice from the APC vice presidential candidate, adding that any attempt by Buhari to lead such war would amount to a “suicide mission” in view of his age.
According to him, the APC should allow President Jonathan to continue to adopt ”a more scientific and modern” warfare in tackling the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency.

I want to seize this opportunity to draw our attention to a publication, last week, credited to the vice-presidential candidate of the APC that their plan is to ask their presidential candidate, retired Maj-Gen. Buhari, to lead the war against Boko Haram.
“I want to ask you a question, a retired 73-year-old General – can he run? No!
“Okay, let’s assume that he can run; how many metres can he run before he falls? The training of a General that retired in 1985 is it the same training that can address a modern war? No!
“Now we are fighting war with drones, with new ideas that our President, a PhD holder, a scientist that is using (his knowledge) to address the security issues of this country.
He described the paln as a suicidal proposal, asking “will he (Buhari) go with a suicidal proposal?”
The vice-president urged the electorate to support President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Jonathan was the answer to the nation’s security and the answer to its development.
Sambo reassured that the PDP-led administration would continue to do its best in addressing the nation’s security challenges across the country.
On the developmental efforts of administration, Sambo said that the President had earmarked funds for the completion of two hydro-power dams in Adamawa.
“I want to give you this good news that Mr President has approved the development and completion of Kiri Dam and Jada Dam.
“All these Dams will be provided with hydro-electricity power and an irrigation scheme, with which we are developing economic corridors in Adamawa state.
“In addition to that, in the transport sector, I have good news for you. Mr President has approved the dredging of River Benue.Very soon, we will have a river port and ships and boats from different parts of the world will be here in Yola.”
Sambo then urged the electorate in the state to ensure that they obtain their PVCs to enable them to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and all other PDP candidates in the February 14 and 28 general elections.
In his remarks, a chieftain of the PDP and a former Minister, Sen. Jubril Aminu, said Adamawa people had resolved to vote for Jonathana/Sambo ticket as well as other PDP candidates in the state during the February elections.

Some hoodlums suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday set ablaze two cars belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.

The vehicles, a Volvo station wagon and a Toyota Hilux vehicle, were set ablaze alongside campaign canopies belonging to the opposition APC.
The attack on APC facilities occurred at the Oron Stadium, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking on the development, the assistant director, Media and Publicity of Umana Okon Umana Campaign Organisation, Bonny Nyong, said before the attack, news had circulated in the local tabloids that the Oron local government chairman, Orman Esin, was arranging to hire thugs to attack the APC facilities.
But the director, Media and Publicity, Udom/Moses 2015 Campaign Organisation, Ekerette Udoh, dissociated the PDP from the attack on the APC.
Udoh stated that since Udom/Moses campaign is based on ideas on how to create employment for the teeming youths of the state, sponsoring attacks against political parties is alien to the organisation.
The commissioner of police, Akwa Ibom State, Gabriel Achong, condemned the attacks on Akpabio and on the APC campaign facilities at Oron Stadium.
and warned Oron youths against attacking any other political parties in the state.
He stated that the youths might have been disenchanted by Oronians by what they think it was their turn to produce the next governor.
His words: “When they stoned the PDP and the governor, we did not blame it on APC. If any other political parties still go there to campaign, they will still stone them.”
saying the development would engender other ethnic groups to also attack other political parties that would go to other areas for their electioneering.
The Police boss said the vehicles were burnt around 1am and the party did not contact the police before erecting their canopy for campaign at the stadium.

We Saw Helicopters Dropping Arms, Food For Boko Haram – Residents

Displaced residents of Monguno, in Borno State, which was recently taken over by Boko Haram, have said they saw helicopters dropping arms and food items for the insurgents in the bushes.
The IDPs, who said they spent about 48 hours in the bush running towards Maiduguri, expressed worry that the Boko Haram sect was not the only ones involved in the insurgency, but that there are many foreign fighters and some external supports.

Leader of the Nigeria Vigilante Group in Monguno, Muhammed Sani,50, said he had, on several occasions, spotted unusual delivery of items in big wooden boxes by air, and sacks being dropped in the bushes around Marte and Monguno where Boko Haram terrorists were camped.
“Even during the attack on Monguno, there was an aircraft that came but did not do anything, not even dropping a single bomb before it left; then another one later came around the Monguno barracks and we saw four men alighting from the aircraft, using a rope. The aircraft left, but we doubt if they were soldiers.
“Even before then, some of my colleagues and I have been sighting helicopters dropping items in sacks and some in boxes to them at the camp of Boko Haram near Chikungudu and Kwalaram villages. Many helicopters came to drop items packed in boxes and sacks to the Boko Haram insurgents at a bush camp between Monguno and Marte; then we would see the Boko Haram gunmen rushing to the spot to pick the dropped items,” he stated.
The displaced vigilante officials said those that attacked Monguno comprised hundreds of foreigners who looked like Chadians.
“Many of them looked like Chadian Arabs – they were light-skinned with coiled hair, and there were many young men from Monguno – who Boko Haram had abducted when Nganzai was attacked last year – that were now active members of the sect.
“While Boko Haram members that are former youths of Monguno were leading other insurgents to attack Monguno town, the foreigners were the ones engaging soldiers near the barracks,” he explained.
Sani, who said he had lived in Monguno for the past 20 years, said he fled amidst the hail of bullets when the terrorists became irritated by his anti-bullet charms that rendered bullets ineffective. His shirt and trousers were riddled by bullets, yet he remained unhurt, he said.

Jimi Agbaje Reacts To Tax Evasion Indictment By Gov Fashola

Jimi Agbaje Reacts To Tax Evasion Indictment By Gov Fashola

Jimi-Agbaje
Find the press statement signed by Jimi Agbaje’s media director, Felix Oboagwina below.
Mr. Jimi Agbaje expresses surprise at this rather personal and unprovoked attack against his person by Governor Raji Fashola.

Just in January, the Commissioner for Finance sent a personal letter to Mr. Agbaje, commending him for his faithfulness in payment of taxes relating to his residence.
It is a curious contradiction that several days later, the Governor himself would express sentiments clearly in contradiction to the spirit and letter of that voluntary and unsolicited commendation from the state.
Are they feeling the heat of Agbaje and PDP’s impending victory in the state, or how does one explain this recourse to personal attacks recently embarked upon by chieftains of APC?
Although he founded JayKay Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Agbaje left the directorship of the company in 2006, and this is on record with the state.
He is no longer involved in the running of the company.
And today, he is not even an Executive Director.
We have a letter signed by Ayo Gbeleyi, Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, where Agbaje received commendations for fulfilling his tax obligations.
The letter from the Ministry says: “A review of our payment records from 2011 shows that you have been consistent with the payment of Land Use Charge on the above property (Agbaje’s residence in Apapa).
“The Lagos State Government wishes to express its appreciation to you on your consistent fulfilment of your civil responsibility and your singular contribution towards the development of the state.
“We look forward to your continued cooperation in this regard.”
It will be recalled that the Governor only about two weeks ago said that Agbaje was too old to be Governor, although the PDP Candidate is only 57.
This fresh outburst amounts to another futile attempt at mudslinging by a desperado group that is up against a formidable opponent, and it has only succeeded in staining the source.
Lagosians should be wary of APC and its bag of tricks.

".....And Justice Shall Reign"

05:31 Add Comment
Every Nigerian is probably familiar with the last line of the second
stanza of the national anthem "To build a nation where peace and
JUSTICE shall reign," but the reverse is the case in the real sense of
it. This is not the case of the height of the injustice done in the
north eastern part of Nigeria which the continuance had made peace,
eludes the people of the region but rather the evil perpetrated
everyday by the police and the justice system (court) in the nation.

The Nigerian nation is that in which it's laws are perverted, and the
arms of government that needs to uphold the law the most, practically
goes against the law the most.

Ever been to a police station or the law court? Then you will
understand better the point I'm driving home. God help you if you have
a case with the Nigerian police, everyone there would assume the role
of a judge, from the least ranked officer to the commisioner of police
not minding due process or rather the court, you will be condemned
from the gate through to the court clerk even before your case is
heard.

The state of anarchy in the judicial system is second to none. I may
not know much about the constitution of the country but one thing I'm
sure of is the Jus gentium; that an accused is innocent until proven
guilty, no matter the offence. Personal sentiments and religious
extremism is the device which our judicial system has come to play,
how then can we achieve peace in such a society?

The case of either right or wrong (guilty or not) is supposed to be
determined by the argument of the prosecuting counsel and the defense
counsel to a case, but damn you if the judge had being biased
-(already have a personal view/opinion about your case and not minding
the argument before the court).

Truly, nothing unites the human hearts like the presence of evil but
then the rule of law need be followed to the letter and everyone
should be given a fair hearing. The principle of fairness should not
be withdrawn from the bodies that ought to uphold the law in the
nation. So many innocents had been convicted for the crime they know
nothing about because there was no fair hearing. The Nigerian prison
is packed with people whose justice have been delayed or denied, and
yet our government boast of upholding the rule of law.

Can we then say truly that justice reigns in the nation? It may not
have happened to you but look around you and see the vile of injustice
in our system.

A former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, has demanded the immediate arrest of some former Niger Delta militants for threatening to plunge the country into war if President Goodluck Jonathan is not re-elected in the February 14 election.
He stated this on Wednesday in Kano during the commissioning of the multibillion naira Kwakwasiya city, one of the three mega cities built by the administration of Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari; Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf; Government Ekpudomenowei, aka, Tompolo; and other militants had last Saturday vowed to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan, wins the February presidential election.
The former militant leaders and their followers, who spoke at a meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, threatened to unleash violence on the country and take back Niger Delta oil should the president lose the election.
They also said any attempt to dethrone Mr. Jonathan would be seen as a direct attack on the Ijaw nation.
Neither the Federal Government nor the president, who is also Ijaw as the militant leaders, has so far reacted to the threat.

Describing the statements as “reckless,” Mr. Danjuma, a retired army general and former Chief of Army Staff, who fought in the Nigerian civil war, said the threats by the militants were not only against national unity but also capable of plunging the country into war.
He asked the security agencies and the government to immediately arrest them.
“You should arrest Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Boylop and other Niger Delta militants for making reckless statements, which in any way does not mean keeping Nigeria as one entity and creating war situation,” he said.
The Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service had recently threatened that they would move against anyone who makes inciting statements in the run up to the February elections.
But since the militants’ comments were reported on January 24, both security agencies are not known to have taken action.
Addressing the Yenagoa meeting, Mr. Dokubo-Asari deplored the alleged intimidation being meted to the people of Ijaw stock in Nigeria, saying the people cannot take it any longer.
He told his colleagues, “For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharoah, there is a Moses. “We are going to war. Everyone of you should go and fortify yourself.”
Mr. Dokubo-Asari, who condemned the attack on Jonathan in the north in the ongoing presidential campaigns, maintained that the survival of the Ijaw nation rests in the hands of the militants gathered at the meeting.
On his part, Boyloaf condemned the attack on President Jonathan in the north, saying nobody has the monopoly of violence.
He said there is nothing like one Nigeria, pointing out that oil is the only thing binding Nigeria’s diverse nationalities together.
While maintaining that President Jonathan would win the election, he however said if the north takes the power away from Mr. Jonathan, the people of the Niger Delta region would take their oil back.
He stressed the need for oneness of purpose among the people, urging them to keep their grudges aside and face the present challenges facing the Ijaw nation with solidarity.
”Keep grudges and sentiments apart. We are ready to match them bumper to bumper,” Boyloaf said.

A Walking Dead

04:16 Add Comment

It was four years ago at a restaurant in Lekki, Ajah when I first met
Nneka. She looked so bright yet calm, beautiful and quite endearing. I
almost chewed my heart in my mouth at her first glance at me. I'm not
a fan of angels, I'd have said she was one that came for a tour on
earth. Her skin was shiny bright as a brimstone, her eyes glows like a
reflection of the sun.

Nothing could be compared to her adoring smile when I pull a chair in
front of her to sit. I was lost in the awesomeness of her soul lifting
smile. Not knowing that meeting her was more of a curse than a
blessing. I was enticed by my grave. I'm Mark I said with a soothing
voice, and she said her name was Nneka. I poured out all d flattery I
could come up with and all was met with a desirable smile, my mojo was
working. We exchanged phone numbers and I went back to the office with
a heart leaping for joy.

I called her up after the close of work and asked where she was
heading to, I was completely in awe when she said she lives in an
estate not too far from mine. I picked her up from her office and
drove down her apartment. This became and everyday affair and each
moment was filled with much love and affection, so I thought.

She was every man's dream and the envy of every woman in character and
beauty, but then, sometimes she makes me want to question her past and
who she's ever being with but the intense feelings for her often makes
me shove off the thought about her past, as far as I get her
attention, that's all that matters to me. Her mood swings could be
somewhat annoying and her routine monthly absent from work was quite
questionable but she's always got an excuse for everything and a
perfect answer to all question.

We grew inseparable and our love story was like a wild fire in
harmattan. It was a twist of fate three years into the relationship,
as my ever rising career met a stumbling block and glide towards a
deep. I was a serious preacher of abstinence, and damn me if I could
wait to have a taste of her honey pot. Nneka's perfect structure could
make any man loose his sense and I was greatful to my star that she
was mine.

I had already tasted the fruits of life and eating from the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil from the middle of her Eden, just two
months into the relationship and could not have heard the call of God
when he came for fellowship. The firmness of her breast was such a
great delight, sending neurological messages down my spine. Eating
from her cookie jar has became the norm in our relationship, until the
next promotion process at the office.

I was enlisted for the post of a regional manager and did the
necessary exams and test, medical and written. The almighty HIV test
was conducted and I came out positive. I've been with just one woman
(Nneka) all my life and I've tried all precautionary measures except
eating her fruits raw. I was devastated and told her about it the next
day so she could get tested, she cried and said she's wanted to tell
me since the first time we got laid that she has been a walking then
for two years before that day at the restaurant.

The idea that she knowingly got me infected killed me more than the
news of being positive to the deadly virus. Who would have known that
a pretty lady as that could be a walking dead. I broke up with her
afterwards and ever since I've joined the legion of the walking dead
in the world.
