Singer Yemi Alade Blasts BET Award For ‘Humiliating’ Africa

Yemi Alade has spoken out against the BET Awards.

The Nigerian pop star was nominated for the Best International Act – Africa at the 2015 BET awards. But she opted not to travel, instead remaining in Nigeria.


She has spoken out on social media against the organization of the awards. Yemi Alade is of the opinion that it is wrong for the African stars to receive their awards before the show.

“By the way…@bet_intl AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY.!!! ..IT IS WRONG TO NOMINATE HUGE AFRICAN STARS AND PUBLICLY TRY TO HUMILIATE AFRICA.WHY ON EARTH IS THE AFRICAN CATEGORY OF THE AWARDS HELD HOURS BEFORE THE “MAIN EVENT? IF AFRICAN ARTISTS ARE NOT WORTHY IN YOUR SIGHT.”

Yemi Alade went further calling for the cancellation, deletion and omission of the category, if the winners will not get a chance to receive their honors at the main event.

“PLS BY ALL MEANS CANCEL,DELETE,OMMIT THE “BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT (AFRICA) CATEGORY OUT OF THIS GLORIFIED AWARD. THIS IS WRONG! !! WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.”

Finally she threw in a shot at this year’s choice of winners for the category. The award was won by Ghanaian singer, Stonebwoy. who beat both Star Boy Wizkid and Yemi Alade, But then the public outcry against the choice of the winner was huge.

Arsenal Sign Petr Cech From Chelsea In £10m Deal

Arsenal have signed Petr Cech from Chelsea in a deal worth about £10m.

The Czech Republic goalkeeper, who played more than 400 club games in 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge has joined the Gunners on a four-year contract.


Cech, 33, made only seven league appearances last season after losing his place to Belgian Thibaut Courtois.

In a letter to Chelsea fans, Cech said he thought he would retire at Stamford Bridge, but added: “Life doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will.”

He wrote: “Last summer, things changed and I understood I was no longer the first-choice keeper, but I felt it was not the right time for me to go.

“During the season, it became clear that my situation would not improve and – as I know I am not at the stage of my career where I want to be on the bench – I made my decision to move and look for new challenges.”

FG Appoints Ladan As Director Of DPR

The Federal Government has appointed Mr Mordecai Danteni Ladan, to oversee the activities of the Department of Petroleum Resources ( DPR ), a statement posted on the website of the DPR on Monday stated.

According to the statement, Ladan is to take over from the former DPR Director, Mr George Osahon, whose tenure elapsed on June 19 .


It said that a memorandum dated June 19 , stated that the appointment was with immediate effect .

Ladan, according to the statement, is a Petrochemist by profession, who joined DPR in Nov . 23, 1987 as a Senior Analytical Chemist.

The statement said that Ladan was deployed to the Safety and Environment Branch under the then Technical Services Division.

It said that Ladan rose through the ranks to occupy various key positions within the organisation , including Zonal Operations Controller , DPR
Kaduna .

According to the statement, Ladan, having attained the rank of Deputy Director, was appointed Head, Downstream Monitoring and Regulation Division in Oct . 2005 to June 2013 .

He was appointed Head, Gas Monitoring and Regulation Division in June 2013 to May 2014.

He later became the Head, Safety , Health and Environment Division in May 2014 until his recent appointment .

“Mr Ladan is highly accomplished both professionally and academically ; he is Fulbright Scholar ( Hubert H.
Humphrey , North -South Fellow ) where he bagged a Certificate in Environmental and Regulatory Policy / Public Affairs June 1991 .

“He bagged M . Sc . Petrochemicals & Hydrocarbon Chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology , UK March 1986 .

“He also has a B .Sc . ( Hons) in Chemistry from the Ahmadu Bello University , Zaria July 1982 ; West African School Certificate from the Federal Government College, Kano June 1978. “He was born on the June 24 , 1957 and is married with children,” it stated.

Saraki Dismisses Oil Baron Sponsorship Allegation Says It’s Malicious

Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to reports that his National Assembly leadership bid was sponsored by some Nigerians associated to the fuel subsidy scam.

According to a statement by the former governor of Kwara State, the report is malicious, false and totally reprehensible.


“The news report went further to give a negative and dirty impression that the emergence of the President of the 8th Senate is aimed to sabotage the anti corruption posture of President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government as well as sabotage the ‘Change agenda’ of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

“One of such desperate attempts to justify this blackmail and others was the story published in newspapers of Monday June 29 2015 as contained in a statement issued by the former Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the report, but for the sole reason that some undiscerning readers might mistake the fiction for the facts.

“We also wish to state unequivocally that it was wrong and mischievous for the statement by Chief Akande to link what happened on the floor of both chambers to some unnamed oil barons.

“We dare say that the entire story was the figment of the imagination of the author.

“We make bold to state that in the 7th Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki was Chairman of the Senate Adhoc Committee which exposed the fraud and mismanagement in the oil sector.

“Until Saraki’s motion on the floor of the senate, no one was in the picture of the rot in the sector or took any action. Therefore, surely, Senator Saraki will be the last person the oil baron will want to see as Senate President.

“No doubt, we make bold to state that Saraki is the last person to be so sponsored by the oil barons or cabals.

“In that position, Saraki did not only lead his colleagues in exposing the rot in the scheme but made very strong recommendations on how the system could be reformed and made corrupt- free.

“It is on records that through his motion on the floor of the Senate, the House of Representatives followed in what is to be known as Oil subsidy probe and to which Ministers of Finance and Petroleum summoned and at last over,N500 billion was saved. Certainly, Senator Saraki is the last person to be so sponsored by the oil barons or cabals,” the statement read.

The statement also noted that during the Senate hearing on the missing $20 billion, Senator Saraki led the onslaught of difficult questions to both the Minister of Finance, Minister of Petroleum and other federal agencies despite being in the ruling party then. To this effect, Senator Saraki refused to sign the final copy of the committee’s report but rather put forward a minority report with a press statement that follow suit.

“Saraki went further to oppose the inclusion of kerosene subsidy in the 2015 budget as well as his opposition to Petroleum Swop deal by NNPC.

“Let it be known therefore that the Senate Presidency of Dr. Bukola Saraki would not in any way be a stumbling block against President Buhari’s posture against anti corruption.

“Rather, the 8th Senate under him as the President would give all necessary legislative support to the administration to fight and reduce corruption as his previous actions and bold step taken against the so called oil barons indicates that Saraki is committed to anti corruption.

“For avoidance of doubt, we want to make it abundantly clear that it is totally false, untrue and calculated mischief to suggest that Senator Saraki’s emergence as Senate President was facilitated by oil barons. This is a case of calling the dog a bad name so as to hang it. Another blatant lies that can not fly. In any case, Senator Saraki was elected unopposed as the Senate President, therefore the lies that he was sponsored by the oil barons cannot hold.

Father Chops Off Daughter’s Finger For Stealing Meat From Her Mother’s Pot

Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Surulere Raphael for cutting off his daughter’s finger on allegation that she stole his money.
Mr Raphael was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters alongside one Ponjue Domsing, who was alleged to have killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for not buying him a motorcycle as promised.

Raphael said he cut off his daughter’s finger because she stole his N1,500 and meat from her mother’s pot of soup. The girl’s severed finger has, however, been recovered as an exhibit, while the girl is being treated in the hospital.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Oki, said the suspects would be charged to court for culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.
He said:
“The Plateau State Police Command, in its resolve to rid the state of crime and criminal activities, has arrested some murder suspects and other individuals for various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy to armed robbery and car snatching.

May 2, 2015 at Doruwa Vwang village in Shendam Local Government Area of the state, one Ponjue Domsing killed his father Mr. Domsing for refusing to buy a motorcycle for him as promised. The investigation has been completed and the suspect will soon appear in court when court resumes from strike.

Also on May 4, 2015 there was a report from Bukuru Division that one Christopher Vincent was stabbed to death by Mondam Pam and dumped his body by the roadside along Zawan Road. Detectives arrested the deceased’s girlfriend, Magdaline Fidelis, and upon interrogation she confessed that the deceased was killed by Monday Pam over misunderstanding between them in her house.”

Same sex marriage declared legal in all 50 states of America

The US Supreme Court today June 26th ruled that same-sex marriages must be recognized in all 50 states of the United States of America. Texas will probably appeal.

The Supreme Court on Friday delivered a historic victory for gay rights, ruling 5 to 4 that the Constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live and that states may no longer reserve the right only for heterosexual couples.

The court’s action marks the culmination of an unprecedented upheaval in public opinion and the nation’s jurisprudence. Advocates called it the most pressing civil rights issue of modern times, while critics said the courts had sent the country into uncharted territory by changing the traditional definition of marriage.

“Under the Constitution, same-sex couples seek in marriage the same legal treatment as opposite-sex couples, and it would disparage their choices and diminish their personhood to deny them this right,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion.

He was joined in the ruling by the court’s liberal justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

All four of the court’s most conservative members — Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. — dissented and each wrote a separate opinion, saying the court had usurped a power that belongs to the people.

I Did Not Resign As Fifa President – Blatter

Sepp Blatter says he has not resigned as Fifa president.

The 79-year-old Swiss was thought to have ended his 17-year reign on 2 June amid claims of corruption in world football’s governing body.

A Fifa statement confirmed a report in Swiss newspaper Blick, which said Blatter told a party: “I did not resign, I put myself and my office in the hands of the Fifa congress.”

Blatter is thought to be considering standing for re-election as president.

Two criminal investigations into alleged Fifa corruption began in the week that Blatter was elected for a fifth term in charge.

Four days after being voted president, Blatter – who is reportedly under investigation in the United States – said: “While I have a mandate from the membership of Fifa, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football.

“Therefore, I have decided to lay down my mandate at an extraordinary elective congress. I will continue to exercise my functions as Fifa president until that election.”

However, Blatter did not use the words ‘resign’ or ‘resignation’. He did add, however, the election would be for his “successor” and said: “I shall not be a candidate.”

The Fifa statement added the quotes in Blick were “fully in line with the speech of the president on 2 June”.

Labour MP Chris Bryant, the shadow secretary of state for culture, said: “Sepp Blatter’s antics remind me not so much of the hokey-cokey as Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

“It’s time Fifa put an end to all this speculation, which is harming the sport, and give a final date for Blatter’s departure.”

Meanwhile, Blatter may not attend the final of the Women’s World Cup in Canada because of the twin investigations into Fifa by American and Swiss authorities.

He would normally present the trophy to the winning team, but Fifa will not confirm whether Blatter or secretary general Jerome Valcke will attend.

A Fifa spokesperson said: “In terms of the Fifa president and the Fifa secretary general, their future travel plans will be confirmed in due course.”

Bobby Shmurda Receives New Prison Contraband Charge

Shmurda was re-arrested on contrabrand charge in Rikers Island

It looks like Bobby Shmurda just can’t catch a break. The Epic Records recording hit-maker whose real name is Ackquille Pollard appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court for his hearing in connection with his multiple conspiracy trial. Shmurda has been incarcerated since December 2014 along with Rowdy Rebel and 13 members of his GS9 crew. Shmurda and his crew are each being held on $2 million dollar bail a piece.

Unfortunately, in a twist of events, the prosecution revealed that Shmurda was re-arrested this week on first degree charges of “promoting prison contraband” which is a class D felony and a separate charge that Shmurda will have to answer to in a separate hearing. The prosecutor stated that Shmurda was charged in the Bronx Criminal Court for the offense after receiving a sharpened metal instrument while in Rikers Island. Schmurda says that he has received support from fellow Brooklyn rapper Maino whose been trying to help him get out. Shmurda also said he’s gotten support from Meek Mill, Fabolous, French Montana and Migos. During the hearing today, Judge James Burke set Shmurda’s trial date for October 5th

I’m sure no lover of Nigerian Entertainment is left out on the Clash of two once upon a time EME recording artistes, Skales and Wizzy. The fight which brewed on Twitter even featured Skale‘s girlfriend.

It now seems like Skales has decided to be a gentleman and settle for peace as the “Oya Shake Body” crooner revealed in a new interview that he would love to work with Wizkid… again.

In an Interview with Punch, Skales speaks about him being partly Cameroonian and why he isn’t in a hurry to have kids like most of his peers.

Yes, my father is from Cameroon but I was born and raised by mum in Kaduna. My mum is from Edo state, so I was raised as an Edo boy.
